the western world, we no longer have the same ties
to agriculture or food production and there's a
real disconnect between consumers and how food is
produced. But what exactly is 'good food', where
does it come from? Can it be quality and affordable?
Does it matter?
radio series Mary embarks on a culinary road trip
through County Donegal in Ireland's northwest, to
try to answer those questions. Weekly episodes explored
how food isn't just about nutrition but also community,
included discussions about food security, how we're
losing basic food production skills and highlighted
the importance of small producers to this very rural
part of the island. Recorded over six months in
2014, Our Food aired first on Highland Radio, Ireland's
most popular local station.
